Is it OK to apply for FT MBA programs while pursuing a PT MBA?
Hey guys, I’ve decided to go all-in and go for a Full-Time MBA for Fall (thanks to you guys for convincing me). Now, I’ve already enrolled at a Part-Time program at a local college (ranked around Top 60 but not a focus for Marketing). I’m planning on starting my Part-Time MBA next week (have until my 1st day of classes to get a refund).
My question is, can I apply for Full-Time MBA programs while enrolled in a Part-Time one? Will there be bias against me by the admissions committee in already being enrolled in another program?
I don’t expect my credits to transfer. I’m only taking 7 credits by Summer (4,3) and its really not that much of an expense when you consider how much a FT MBA costs. For me, I want to see if doing a PT can meet my goals before plunging on a FT program. I’d also want to get a head start and see how the MBA curriculum is like. I didn’t have the best undergrad GPA and part of that was it took me a while to get used to classroom style learning (was a B+/A- student by junior year, but by then my GPA was in the toilet). Came from terrible HS and poor academic background (my grades were very good, but we didn’t really learn anything…never even took tests). It’s been 5 years since college (and I barely attended by last semester due to internships) so I’d think it would be beneficial to get used to the overall environment.
What you guys think?
yes, and they will 100% ask why.
and if you go to FTMBA, just dont go to some shit program for a $5 raise. Turn that school upside down to make sure it's worth applying at all.
I have a hard time thinking you will be able to get much out of the part-time MBA if you're looking to change careers, particularly given how low it's ranked.
Do you have any information on the kind of jobs people will go into from the part-time MBA program you're thinking about enrolling in?
I would likely withdraw to avoid raising red flags to full-time programs, unless you get very concrete evidence that the part-time program can help you reach your goals.
