85k at 125k base would be my market

Worry about getting in first lol. My friends and I applied to the graduate program but none of us got in. Imo it's much tougher than Point72 academy because you're not only competing with Wharton hardos but also Oxford hardos who can speak 10 European languages and have parents in the O&G/metals space so they have that network + background.
im relatively non target and am at the second to last round so i beg to differ.
Nontarget doesn't necessarily matter in commodities as much as IB. Do you know programming/foreign languages?
When did you apply? I applied to the associate program on the the 7th and haven’t heard back yet
60@80
what does @ mean?
market-making term, they're quoting bid at 60 and ask at 80 meaning they probs think the ev is across that spread.
This is 100% correct, finally a sensible answer. They would pay 80 base for someone that does extremely well during interviews to get them across the line but typically it would be 66-75k base on average.
I'd lift those 80s that seems super low for an entry level position. I offered a back office entry level 70k a few months ago and they said nahh
its a trade house... they generally dont pay much.... I mean i know traders making 5mm on a 150k base salary
dont traders at trade house generally make the most? or are you just talking about base...
you dont join a trade house for the base salary
No one consistently making $5mm a year is sitting at $150k base salary, or that is an extreme outlier. Heck associate at banks clear $160k base
Market salary for any senior trader is $200k+. Most guys wouldn't leave their current seat for anything less than $275k and 10% of book
$150k base is spot on for physical, and when I say physical I mean deals involving execution with logistics/vessels etc. Junior guys would be circa $90-120k depending circumstances, and seniors starting is $180k and upwards depending on how well you negotiate and circumstances.
I.e senior relocating to new location has prior exp dealing in this destination / moving from Europe to Asia and no other candidates. I’ve seen guys get $30k p/month base salary because of circumstances.
Higher base if the shop pays you % on salary but you enjoy corporate perks, or lower base when you get % of PnL but no perks as everything is an expense on your book.
Good point about the corporate perks and fixed/guaranteed % of salary. I've seen some nice perks out there..paid home office or expense a local office. cars, gas cards, unlimited travel to events, forums, conferences, stipends and free housing..oh yeah box seats season tickets to the local MLB team are good too
I know 5-10 guys with that deal.. all are 130-160 base but clear mid 7 figs
Totally different world from bank pay.
