Career Resources
If your goal is to stay in the APAC region as well it has higher comp... I think your decision is pretty clear.
EDIT: I realize I may be misreading this. Please disregard if that's the case...
Thanks for the advice! Higher comp at an early career stage is not my priority; would love to hear your thoughts on the flexibility and learning curve parts!
I'd heavily suggest taking the S&T role at BB in HK. Much more flexibility down the roll in moving over to a hedge fund if you want to do that. Also chances to move to EMEA or AMER in the future. Alongside the higher comp I think you are living a lot of people's dream.
It's a tough one only because S&T offer isn’t in London. Pimco doesn't really have FO Investment roles for grads, from what I see, they seem to be '"Accounts Analysts" or "Product Analysts". It will likely be hard (or easy depending on how well you do and how much you're liked) to switch to direct Portfolio Management or Research. S&T on a macro desk for example could very much lead to a macro Hedge Fund down the line which will pretty much be impossible coming from a desk analyst role at Pimco which is pretty much MO. I mean do what's best for you anyways.
Thank you for your reply! The S&T offers are in HK actually. As to PIMCO, it is indeed a FO investment role within their PM group - they just started to recruit graduates in FO this year. Would that change anything?
I meant to say isn't sorry, typo there. And I need to see the job spec as i'm still highly skeptical of a FO role being labelled "Desk Analyst"
If you want to be in APAC take the HK offer, congratulations!
