Consultant friendly growth equity / VC firms?
I'm a first-year MBB consultant interested in a career in growth equity / venture capital. From a cursory LinkedIn search, it seems like consultants on the buyside are more concentrated in traditional PE roles (e.g., at firms like Bain Cap, Golden Gate, Sycamore), and not so much at earlier stage shops.
I was curious to know what, if any, GE / VC (think Insight Partners, TVP) shops are consultant friendly? Also, does this recruiting process happen on the same cycle (i.e., same timeline and same headhunters)?
Thanks for your help!
There are quite a few associate level folks with consulting backgrounds in VC. In emerging markets like SEA, this becomes even more pronounced. By VC, if you mean pure growth stage (e.g. GA, Insight, Thoma Bravo, SLP), there are fewer consultants compared to an early stage or early growth firm. But you probably have a good shot coming from MBB as long as you're familiar with the tech space and have a demonstrated interest in startups.
not sure about the process, but I’ve seen a number of associates at places like Insight from MBB
