IB to VC
I am a first year analyst in the technology coverage group at a NYC BB (Citi/CS/Barclays). How often do people in this position exit to VC after their analyst stint? I read online that people switch to VC after analyst, but most people I know seem to only want to go to private equity? I am a computer science major with a significant technology background at a top target school, if this means anything.

Yeah people definitely make the switch after an analyst role, and you sound like a prime candidate. Most people I've met in VC come from IB or a startup/FAANG. I know it sounds cliche, but start networking and you should be able to make the pivot too. Good luck!
Also to piggyback on what I already said, most people only chase PE bc they're sheep.
thank you, much appreciated!
is this switch doable from a lower BB like DB/UBS, given a similar background?
More doable for a tech analyst than a healthcare one, just to add, since those tend to be the two biggest areas of VC.
