1 yr financial advisory + 1 yr banking = PE?

Hello,

I have 1 yr corporate financial advisory + 1 yr banking experience (laterally hired as a 2nd-year mid-way of the program so I'm finishing this summer). Due to the economy, don't think my group needs a 3rd year analyst at the moment. Do you think my experience is enough to land a PE gig right or do I really need another year in banking? Any examples of people with similar experience who've made the jump, if any?

Thanks for your response!!

Doesn't really matter if you need another year, the question is whether PE firms are hiring at the moment. In general hiring is sparse. Most PE firms in the US interview first year analysts only 8 months or so into their first year. The key these days is to do your research and talk to as many people in the industry and headhunters to get an idea of what the prospects are like. You have to be in the right place at the right time and need some luck on your side basically.
