2012 CME Group Open Outcry Trading Challenge in Houston

Anyone else familiar with this challenge held by CME Group? Do they do any sort of recruiting from this event? Also I'm from Boston and familiar with the reputation Suffolk University has in comparison to the other great institutions of higher learning in the area. Quite surprised to see 1st place and 4th place winners both from Suffolk, however I wonder how large the size of the participant pool was.

Did that in 2009 in New York City. It is not a recruiting event. You get to see the pit where traders buy future contracts. They emptied out the place for you. You are screaming against maybe like 40-60 people, 20 at each time. Whoever trade the best win the competition. I have not heard anything about any recruiting related to this competition. I was even in this photo: http://people.hofstra.edu/Ahmet_K_Karagozoglu/CME2009NewYorkOpenOutcry/…

The one in Houston is run by their Finance Club and they do their own recruiting and organizing, but there is also one in Chicago that I'm told is a bit bigger (and in NYC too?). We had about 65 people this year in Houston; I am the 1st place taker you're talking about, and happy to represent Suffolk University. It's not where you go to school, it's what you take out of it. Are you a student? The program is only open to undergraduate students, as far as I know. I plan to help organize a return trip to Houston this year, and perhaps Chicago too.
