Advice on how to get funding?

I have a prototype of the product built (after some pivots) as well as an investor deck. I've also been hitting the pavement to try to develop relationships with institutions (my end consumers). I applied to an accelerator program last week and haven't heard back. I also submitted my investor deck with the description of the business on various VC firm websites that provide seed but I'm sure they get tons of those per day. Where can I get funding/VC relationships to achieve my vision? Anyone know a god way to find angels in CA?

You should really start with friends and family. Reach out to everyone you know and ask who they know that might be interested. Also, ask any early customers if they have funds to help you bring the product to market.

Getting angel investment from the formal groups can be really tough without a pre-existing relationship is hard. I've also found the terms from some of the angel groups to be generally unfriendly.

Forget the angels. Depending on how close your prototype is to a final product, you should look to crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter. They have raised millions for entrepreneurs and if your prototype is good, you'll get noticed and possibly funded in a matter of weeks (maybe even sooner) without losing equity in the process.
