Am I employable in finance?

Hi everyone,

Below is my story, hoping to make a transition into finance from advertising, and just looking for a reality check:

  • been out of school for 2 years
  • studied economics at UofT, gpa just shy of 3.0
  • freelanced throughout uni as a developer
  • started an ad agency and signed up tier-1 client through cold calling
  • lost the client and joined one of the leading ad agencies in the world as a senior account manager, managing some of the largest brands in the world
  • also tried to start multiple startups throughout my life, some got traction but none took off. Did get some decent recognition in the community

I've always been fascinated by the world of finance, and to be put bluntly, I'm attracted to the money. I don't mind starting at the beginning as an analyst, but just looking for an reality check here to see if it's possible. And if so, what's the comp I'd be looking at?

Low chance. Why hire someone like you if there are 10,000 young undergrads sprinting out the gate willing to lay down on railroad tracks to get a job. These younger applicants are more easily molded into the banker they want.

Have you thought about the MBA -> Associate route? That seems like your best best (if you can get into a top MBA).
