Any anime fans here?

I am a casual closet only watched like 13 shows but find it pretty interesting. Some times the tropes get too annoying and makes you want to punch the screen, but the stories are usually great. 99% of the fans are extremely socially awkward people, so I hide that I enjoy having a social life

Some of my favorites
Naruto-> got me into anime
Oreimo
Angel Beats
Haruhi
Toradora
Spice and Wolf - this is my favorite
Sword Art Online
Pet Girl of Sakurasou

"only watch like 13 shows" lawl

Not gonna hate on anyone's hobbies as long as they're not hurting anyone. How did you get into this though? Like, I had a nerd phase in 5/6/7 grade where I played D&D and hung out with the losers who are into anime and still just couldn't get into it. Did you get into it during a nerd phase or did you just sit down and decide to watch anime one day? I'm still pretty into SciFi but don't have the time or desire to keep up with anything in particular.

Do you have a body pillow?

None of my family/friends know I like anime. I never bought anything anime related.

Got into anime senior year of high school when I was bored. I remember watching Naruto casually in 7th grade so I decided to pick it up again and got hooked. I watched most of the anime I've seen between senior year of HS till freshmen year of college. In college, I never watch anime as I would rather go out and have fun/be social. I bet most of my friends don't even know what anime is.

Dude, abridged is fucking hilarious. But I don't think it counts since everyone with Cartoon Network got to see DBZ as a kid. There were girls in my 6th grade class who would watch that shit. The golden era...

I don't watch much television but I've indulged in some anime that pertain to my interests.

  • Every Gundam ever (I could watch robot porn all day)
  • FLCL (I see your avatar @"matayo")
  • Evangelion (human robots)
  • Macross Plus (airplane robots)
  • Rahxephon (magic robots)

In general I used to watch as a hobby when I was 12 up until probably 15-16. I stopped watching completely since then (except Gundam, I fucking love robots).

Macross Plus is amazing and has aged quite well (animation is still top notch, and I personally like the realistic style of art much more than the exaggerated cutesy-ness)

I read some manga as opposed to watch anime these days, but a few: - Fullmetal Alchemist (FMA) - Silver Spoon (by the artist/author of FMA) - Cowboy Bebop (what got me into anime/manga. It's about futuristic bounty hunters.) - The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (it's a movie) - Fairy Tail (it's about mages/magic)

Edit: And Uchuu Kyoudai (or "Space Brothers" - it's about a guy who journeys to become an astronaut; his younger brother is already one. There's a movie and an anime series/manga - read and watched the latter. A bit slow, but it's terrific.)

This. That's one show that is unfair to categorize as just anime. The movie was great too. Gems like this that I saw in my teenage years and have now forgotten about are basically what I used to watch.

See I loves naruro especially the original. The first 5 seasons of shippuden were the shit but the latest Archs of shippuden have been verrry slow. Though some cool plot has been being developed.

Yeah, I think attack on titan is a very philosophical and thought provoking program. It portrays the fragile nature of the human mind, and how complacency and false prosperity built on sand can vanish into thin air.

The first episode, where the titans destroy the gigantic wall that tops 50 meters in height, exemplifies where people usually draw solace from could usually be the weak link in a system or society.

The gigantic wall, which far exceeded the tallest titans that ranges somewhere between 10 to 15 meters, provided a shield against titans from entering into the wall where people lived in. The wall conferred the people in the wall with 100 years of peace, but at the same time, it made people complacent and ingrained them with an unfounded mindset that somehow the titan would never be allowed to intrude into the human area. However, they were ignorant to the development of muted titans that surpassed the height of the wall. Once they literally kicked the wall and destroyed it, leaving a hole so that all of the fellow titans can set their foot in the wall, the comfort of 100 years quickly shifted into an illusory pipe dream, and the human lost 20% of their population, mostly falling prey to the titans.

After watching this, I reflected on the current financial and economic system. Is the euro sustainable? Is the Greek 10-year bonds returning to 3 to 4% level from 30% within a two-year time frame normal? Can the U.S. sustain its unprecedented level of current account deficits in light of its mounting pile of direct and implicit(medicare, medicade, and social security) debt? Who’s going to keep buy the Treasuries if we all know that the dollar is getting debased by the Fed’s printing machine?

Something that really dawned on me while watching the episodes…
