There's VC everywhere. The fact that it isn't all based in Silicon Valley now can make being in CA detrimental because it's on the West Coast, so flying east for a one day meeting becomes much harder than necessary. No specific companies off the top of my head, but I can guarantee there are some there. I know Boston has a number of well respected firms.
