Just make sure that you know your swaps and forwards - you don't want your entire desk hating you from day one as they think you only got the job through sheer networking because you asked about something a freshman should know.

You wouldn't go to an NFL tryout and not know what kind of offense the team runs, would you?

Otherwise I agree with monty; be humble and eager to learn, and just be a nice guy - you'll be just fine.

I would make sure you're very familiar with duration. It's a very simple concept, but a lot of the mental effort on a rates desk goes towards keeping that exposure hedged. Make sure you understand the concept of flattening v. steepening exposure.
