Asking Lloyd Blankfein for Coffee
I know the classic move of asking Analysts, Associates, VPs, MDs etc to coffee or for a phone call, the classic networking call or informational interview bit and maybe eventually asking for help, I pretty much have that down. What about people higher up though? I'm talking founding partners in the top boutiques and top 3s in BB's. Have you ever had a situation where a contact of yours gave you someone really high ups contact info and said feel free to tell them I sent you? The contact doesn't seem willing to make a warm introduction but is more than happy to give you emails and phone numbers of REALLY senior finance professionals. How did/would you approach this email or phone call. Its seems like its one of these situations where "You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to...."
What would you do ... or what have you done?
If your contact is close enough friends with Blankfein to freely give out his contact info and tell you to say that "Name referred me," by all means, contact Lloyd Blankfein! It'd be foolish not to.
Haha its not him per say but definitely his contemporaries at his and other companies. But your not going to ask him for coffee to learn about the industry... What exactly would be your "ask"

Do u have any idea how busy the likes of these guys are? Their entire calendar is booked for the next year.
No offense, but if you're serious, its really a jerk move. Fortunately you'd be wasting the personal assistant's time who overseas his e-mails.
If you have a close contact you should try to meet someone of Lloyd's stature at a social event... the traditional 30 second pitch.
@"Macro Arbitrage" Keep Us updated @"mb666" - That is why the question is being posed..... Your saying if someone handed you that contact on a platter , you don't think there is any way to leverage it?
I'm sorry to be THAT guy but if you don't know the difference between your and you're then maybe, just maybe, meeting LB is not going to be a good idea.
You're totally being that guy.
Is this question a ------- joke?
@wikileaks what part of the question makes you think that it's a joke?
Sharon (or equivalent) will screen all emails like this. If your connection is a huge client and you're their kid, then you will probably get a meeting and it will be valuable. Something tells me that this is not the case here. Go in with low expectations. The most likely case is that your email is ignored. The second most likely is that your email is forwarded to HR.
