Background Check (Scam Solicitation Website)
Hey Guys,
I'm in the final and second round interviews with two boutique investment banks, and I have a question about background checks and how they might impact my chances of receiving an offer. I have a spotless criminal history, but recently I received a text saying I was on a website "exposing Johns" for soliciting prostitutes. I received this post because I was responding to an ad on Craigslist looking for basketball tickets, but ended up on the website with my full name, phone number, and picture (taken from Facebook). This is a scam website and has roped in hundreds of other innocent users responding to Craigslist ads, and I was wondering how this might reflect on me during a background check. Will banks think anything at all of this site given that it is an extortionist website? Should I proactively bring this up to a member of the office/HR department? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Some of you guys get into some of the most weird shit I've ever seen. You'll be fine, explain to them if they ask (which I doubt they will). Now sit tight, and best of luck on getting the offers.
