Guys to join as a full time analyst, which is better in Europe?
Barclays Capital IBD or UBS IBD.
Reuters league tables suggest UBS, but considering the uncertainty around UBS, is BarCap a better bet?
Thanks for input

I have heard UBS's CEO is looking to downsize their entire IBD operation.
You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son.

I'd say go with BarCap. As Nefarious have mentioned, UBS is going to shift its emphasis from IBD to Wealth Management. I think that you'll have more opportunities at BarCap. Congrats on landing both offers anyway!
that's a now brainer... go
that's a now brainer... go for barcap. if you have any specific questions concerning barcap in ldn send me a private message.
öÖö
barcap is in the canary
barcap is in the canary wharf, which will certainly (not probably, certainly) drop your quality of life two points out of ten... and as a current analyst in london, thats the difference between a seven and afive...
i know ill get crucified for saying this, but that is the dilemma right there. unless you want to live in the shitty east end dodging hookers, hippies and thieves on your way home, youll get a spot in the west end... and as such, that crammed 40 minute tube ride to the wharf will feel like torture every damn day, miserable. i cant stress this enough...
from a work standpoint, and my crucifiction continues, comps at barcap have blue outlines and comps at ubs have red ones, thats the difference. youll have your hands glued to a keyboard for fifteen hours a day grinding it out at both places just the same (and for the ones counting, ubs actually does more deals, before 08, after 08, before 11, after 11, go have a look... your resume will thank you much more for pitching and winning some smaller deals than for just pitching for big deals)
to consider much more than that (apart from actually knowing team members and evaluating your chemistry with them) is really insane... id honestly advise you to determine whether you want you business card to have the ubs keys or the barcap bird before you start ripping apart league tables
