Barcap/Lehman: how good will it be?

Hi,

Just wanted to see what peoples' thoughts were on how good the Barcap/Lehman combination will be a year or two down the line. Business area overlap is minimal (save DCM perhaps) and it appears that although a number of high profile bankers have left Lehman, most have remained behind. Also, although Barclays has a 2.7tn balance sheet it still seems pretty levered vs. competitors, with large exposure derivatives. Thoughts on its survivability?

Thanks

Barclays and BOA are both

Barclays and BOA are both going to have top 5-10 platforms across IBD...

In terms of equity research, once the mergers close in a couple of months, Barclays and BOA will also have the best equity and debt research

I think the merger/acquisitions main result is making advisory a primary business line for these banks rather than an off-shoot of their commercial and underwriting work
