Blackstone M&A SA 2015

Does anyone know if they will be recruiting this year given the merger with PJT? I know their website still claims they are.

However, I have heard via reliable sources that they aren't sure if will be recruiting and may be trying to get rid of some analysts due the merger. Even if they do have a summer class it will be smaller than usual seems to be the message.

That hardly makes sense since a PJT-Blackstone merger will probably drive up deal flow and I know for a fact that PJT has no analysts but has a single associate.

Can anyone shed any info they have on this?

Post above could be misleading. M&A will run its process at its core schools in January, this process has not begun yet. The group accelerates on an as-needed basis and so far has extended one offer, poaching a non target from GS as they did last year. Phone interviews for non targets and structured recruiting at Wharton, Harvard, etc. are scheduled as usual. Sounds like they are striving for continuity, senior guys have been solidifying relationships with their PE/HF counterparts and contacting headhunters to explain what is going on. In my view PJT-Blackstone will not affect the historically excellent exit ops, will be interesting to see if they can continue to attract top talent for summer 2015.
