I did not like The Quants, I felt like it was written for a really low-level audience, like a biography you'd pick up in high school. His later book Dark Pools is a lot more interesting and informative.
As for trading-related books, Traders Guns and Money is nice.
For entertainment, any of Ben Mezrich's books are good.
When Genius Failed
Thanks, I'll check all of those out.
Anyone have an opinion on When Genius Failed vs some of Nassim Taleb's other books? I was thinking about picking up Fooled By Randomness as I haven't read it yet. The Black Swan was interesting but also extremely difficult to read despite having a background in math, finance and philosophy. He's outrageously arrogant.
"Flash Boys" would probably be my next read.
Fortune's Formula, absolutely great book, about Claude Shannon, Ed Thorp, hedge funds, IBM, and blackjack. talks about the kelly criterion.
snowball: warren Buffett's biography is a bear and will keep you occupied, it's also really good and interesting.
also, if you like brave new world, read the rational optimist by matt ridley.

Hey man, yeah like human behavior which would be useful in finance. Specifically a book like "nudge" by Richard Thaler.
I found Collossal Failure quite good.
One reallly good book that is non finance is "Astronauts Guide to Life on Earth", the lessons talked about in that book really hit home for trading.

For behavioral finance and thinking-oriented literature, one of the most popular books is "Thinking fast and slow," by Kahnemann For finance; I recommend "Too Big To Fail," as it recounts the financial crisis and you're a MBS trader, it might be an interesting read. For literature, definitely have a look at "The Prince," by Niccolo Machiavelli and Sun Tzu Art of War, both are historical classics.
