I am currently an incoming BB IBD analyst. Understand that PE process could kick start as early as this Dec, I wonder if anyone could shed some light on the modeling test? Specifically, I heard that the key is not being able to complete the short form LBO, which is not really that challenging by itself, but being able to make more insightful assumptions. Could anyone give me some examples? Not sure if my IBD training is enough for such insight. Thanks.

I took many different modeling tests during my recruiting process. They come in all shapes, sizes and flavors. Some will be full 3 statement and some short form. One test gave me every assumption so it was purely an exercise to see if I could build something functional. Most of my tests did involve me using some judgement around various financing and operational assumptions. Building a functional model and arriving at intelligent assumptions are equally important.
