Career Advancement for Service Associate?

If you've been working on a planning team working with clients / transferring funds / placing trades, what other career options do you have if you're licensed / pursuing a CFP designation?

Is the only way to break out to go to a firm and try building your own book? How do you transition from a stable salary with no proven SALES experience to a commission based payout?

What are the best places to go to start getting into planning vs the service side? Or are there any other roles within AM that isn't commission based where a CFP can be utilized?
