Hi all,
I was wondering if any of you know the typical career path for internal corporate budgeting / financial analyst type role. Now I have heard that these roles, even at top companies like Google, can be very mundane work. Will these type of positions even provide me the opportunity to break into i-banking later or go to a top MBA school?
The reason I ask is that I may be getting an offer for this type of position at an energy company. Now the sweetener to the offer is that the role *may be* involved in doing some transcations as well (buying a power plant for example). So if the position really does have transaction work, do you think this will help in terms of b-school application or eventually landing a gig in corporate development? How long would I have to stick to this role before making the transition?
I sincerely appreciate any advice from anyone with experience / knowledge on this topic.
Thanks so much!!
