Corporate Finance at Utility to ER or PE
Looking for advice from the wise old hats on this forum. I currently work as an analyst with a Fortune 500 utility company. I work in the corp fin division, FP&A, specifically.
What are the possibilities of bridging over to equity research with a bank or boutique research shop? Or would it be better to pursue the buy-side via an energy based PE firm? Lastly, I feel like knowledge of the utility industry could also be useful for a role at an endowment/pension.
Happy in my current role but seeking potential exit opportunities. An analyst at my company would typically make about $80-$90k with a bonus of around $25k. I know that the opportunities I listed have a much better earning potential and "high finance" pedigree. I know in my late twenties that I'm probably too old to enter IB and it probably wouldn't be a smart career move regardless.
Thanks for the advice!
