Crap work experience ... what are my options?

I graduated back in 2009 with an econ degree from a non-target, and i've been in the same dead end job since. The job is basically glorified data entry. I've been trying to leave the company for the past year, but have been unable to land anything.

I'm just curious as to what is a reasonable choice for those without the name brand work experience. I should be taking the GMAT soon and all my recent practice tests have been 700+. I graduated with a 3.5, my last 60 hours being 3.8+, just two really bad semesters.

its not necessarily about the job its about the change and efforts you bring to the job. if you work at enterprise with a bunch of other coworkers who hate it but can galvanize the workforce and take it from being a low performing rental car place to a top in the region and make the others happy to be there, thats what matters more than doing IBD and kicking out dealds and working a lot...

I see what you're saying, but I'm really the lowest on the totem pole at work and there's no where to move. There's very little revolutionary things I can do from my position.

As for ECs... During college I was a part of a few groups and activities, but didn't hold any offices or anything.

Post-college I haven't done any ECs worth noting, but it's something I'm trying to change. Currently, I come home from work, go to the gym or bike, and look for a new job. Would extracurriculars impact my resume that much considering my work experience?

Thanks for the input
