You're a generalist until you become a Manager. Post-MBA you start as a Senior Consultant, usually for two years. And correct - the analyst program forces you to move around industries. Except for Healthcare, which I never worked in, but I'm pretty sure they end up being focused. Or maybe I just have a few buddies that have managed to only do HC work.

As far as healthcare is concerned, I heard from some current consultants at Deloitte that they're starting to have some small groups of BAs/SCs start to specialize earlier, if they know exactly what they want. They're apparently using healthcare as a guinea pig of sorts to see if its a viable option for other industries as well.

Was just ccoming on here and say that. Healthcare is basically the one practice where they're having lower levels do that. I think they will always be hesitant to do it on a large scale, but not a bad move as far as healthcare and maybe a few other industries are concerned.
