Do megafunds give preference to analysts from HYP caliber undergrads?
I haven't seen too many posts about PE lately so I was wondering if we could get another discussion. We all know the top analysts from the top ibd groups have the best shot of getting in a Carlyle, Apollo, KKR, etc. but I was wondering if in a case where all things are equal if the analyst who went to yale has an edge over the analyst who went to some non-target?

How important is gpa if you wanna try for a MF or a place like Warburg/Apollo? Like would a Evercore/Moelis/Lazard analyst with a mediocre gpa from a middling ivy get any interviews?
I'm not sure but that is an interesting question that I've thought of many times. Someone I know who was in BB IBD told me that his 3.5 hindered his chances at some elite buyside jobs. He went to a non-target.
Having just gone through the recruiting process, I'd say that there is preference to Ivy League kids for interviews, but once you get the interview, the distinction disappears. They're not going to hire you simply because you went to Harvard, for example.
