FAS vs. IB

Looking at applying for positions full-time and wanted to get a better understanding of what differences exist between a financial advisory services group and an investment banking group. To my knowledge FAS teams provide more detailed valuations and fairness opinions. They also can work on legal and regulatory issues that may arise during the deal, but is there anything else (big picture) I am missing?
