3+9 = 3 months actual, the next 9 months forecasted

I had this 'term' in a project mgmt class during grad school, though im fairly sure it's interchangeable in case project mgmt isn't at all what youre asking about.
If it is, then the poster above kinda started you off.
For P+1 analysis, youre attempting to forecast your budgeting needs for any future point in time and so it's typically P+n since n can be any period you want.
After just realizing you posted this in the ER section my guess is probably youre NOT asking about PM, but oh well, just laid it out there.
