GARP : ERP Certification

Wondering if any one can provide me with some reviews on GARP (Energy Certifcation Program). I am calgary based Geophysicst, trying to get in Oil and gas Finance side by end of this year. No Finance background, but regular in analyzing financials statements of various O & G industry.

Questions :
1. CFA vs ERP?

  1. Any sugesstion on how to prepare for it ?

  2. Time needed for preparation based on your experience ?

ERP website quote
" Candidates' preparation times will vary based on their prior professional experience level, academic backgrounds, and familiarity with the concepts tested on the curriculum. It is difficult to recommend a particular number of hours to dedicate to studying, but candidates should expect to commit to between 300-400 hours of preparation time."

Outline :
Program Coverage – Physical Energy Markets
•Exploration and Production (Petroleum andNatural Gas)
•Crude Oil, Refined Petroleum Products,Natural Gas,
Liquefied Natural Gas, Coal,Electricity, Alternative Energy

Thanks

I did the GARP ERP in May, I thought the material was great and covered an array of energy topics. It gave me a nice foundation to build on and allowed me to figure out what I would like to go more in depth with next within energy.
