GLG Partners

Thoughts on them? Have first round coming up for FT in London, for macro hopefully. Read up a few things on Glassdoor but not much more out there so any help would be great.

Background: Summers in M&A at a BB and a $20bn+ long/short hedge fund.

Bump?
The HBS guys have MAD SWAGGER. They frequently wear their class jackets to boston bars, strutting and acting like they own the joint. They just ooze success, confidence, swagger, basically attributes of alpha males.
GLG is nothing like a IBD or BlackRock.

Your job is to connect investment professionals with industry contacts.

I.E. A hedgefund is looking to get some info regarding cell tower capabilities. Your job is to find a some systems engineer who could give the HF more color in that space. HF pays GLG a finders fee and GLG pays engineer for his time.

"Sounds to me like you guys a couple of bookies."

Well if Coffee was their one of their biggest assets and is now at Moore with Louis Bacon, why not invest in Moore and get two amazing PMs?

Yes, since they stopped serving cofee their results have lagged leading market indexes and top quartile funds by over 50%. Starbucks is pleased to see that its products do in fact correlate to higher returns. I would not go work at GLG unless they got off their asses and bought Starbucks coffee for all employees daily.
