Which investment banks are in Menlo Park and which are in San Francisco?
Was doing some research on the location of the banks and couldn't find much info on which banks are in menlo park. I know Morgan Stanley and Barclays both are in Menlo Park but wondered what other BB or EB banks were in the area. I would imagine most of the BB's have offices in SF.
Evercore, Moelis and BAML are down there
For Technology Coverage:
Menlo Mark: Barclays, BAML (Palo Alto), Evercore, Moelis, Morgan Stanley. Legacy BX M&A used to have an office in Menlo Park - not sure if they do anymore.
San Francisco: Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Lazard, Qatalyst.
This is for technology coverage. Many of these banks have healthcare/western region coverage in SF. Greenhill and Centerview have offices there as well.
Do Barclays analysts get the choice to work in the SF office or the Menlo Park office? For example 2 days in menlo, 3 days in SF?
Yes.
Groups in Menlo Park vs SF Offices (Originally Posted: 10/03/2011)
I want to work in the Bay Area but would much prefer to be in SF versus Menlo Park/Palo Alto. I was wondering if anyone could provide a break down of which groups sit in the following banks' SF offices (if they even have them) versus the groups that sit in the Menlo Park offices:
BAML MS JPM Barclays Citi
Citi and Barclays are both in Menlo/Palo Alto. JPM is in SF, im pretty sure BAML is in SF too. Not sure about MS Hope this helps
MS I believe is pretty generalist, and do everything outside of tech and healthcare (which is covered in Menlo). Not sure about specifics though...
BAML's FSG is in SF
Citi and BAML - Palo Alto JPM, CS, UBS, DB and GS - SF MS and Barclays - Menlo Park
The commute between PA/MP and SF is about 45 minutes, but when you're getting out at 3 am every night, it's not really realistic.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated. @BallinOnABudget - Do Citi, BAML, MS and Barclays also have offices in SF that house non tech-coverage groups? (and do you know what those groups are?)
Does anyone have a list of banks in Menlo Park/Palo Alto area in the SF Bay Area? (Originally Posted: 10/30/2015)
Trying to figure out what bulge brackets and boutiques are operating in the peninsula (NOT San Francisco city). I came across this list:
Barclays - Tech (Menlo Park) Moelis - Tech (Palo Alto) BAML - Tech (Palo Alto)
Are there any others?
The best office in the area is Morgan Stanley's Technology Group in Menlo Park.
What are your thoughts on BAML in Palo Alto?
Evercore in MP
I'd say MS > Evercore > Barclays = BAML > Moelis. Really don't see Moelis on anything big, and Barclays does decently
Best office in the area is either GS SF TMT or MS Menlo
Barclays has a major new office in San Francisco as well as a Menlo Park office.
Do you know what industry they cover at the SF office? Menlo is Tech but curious to learn about SF office
New / bigger office in the city will have the same teams as in MLP office. Believe we're keeping both offices but a lot of people don't need to commute as far if they live in the city.
everyones forgetting about Qatalyst
best of all by a mile
They're one really impressive group of bankers. If you're interested in tech banking, it's where you want to be
