Not limiting to hedge funds, but asset management generally, Van Kampen, AIM, Bridgeway, Vaughan Nelson, NFJ, Sarofim, are all major players.
There are also a few AIM spin-offs (Brasada) as well as several MLP funds in Houston, but as far as Texas goes, Dallas is a much much larger hedge fund market (Carlson, HBK, Highland if they survive, et al). Houston is more of a banking market.
So which of these firms is strictly a hedge fund? Or are they all long-only asset management firms?
TPG?
TPG is in Fort Worth, and is a PE firm.
Brasada is a hedge fund, if you are using that term to mean one that is only available to accredited investors and seeks absolute returns. I highly doubt any of them are long-only across every fund.

A list of as many hedge funds and money managers in Houston would be greatly appreciated. I know of a few of the big money managers (AIM, Fayez Sarofim), but not many, and no hedge funds.
Thanks in advance.
Centaurus Energy
Thanks Bracketracer. I appreciate it.

Anybody have any information on the biggest funds in Houston? As well as investment style / focus? Thanks.
Would also be interested to know about what hedge funds (and other investment firms) are in Houston. Thanks
Lots of energy trading funds. Centaurus stands out obviously. Kayne Anderson has an office but mainly does energy PE out of Houston.

Could you guys please throw out some names of the Hedge funds and (other) public equity money managers you know of in Houston? ( I know of a few: i.e.- Fayez Sarofim, AIM funds). I am trying to compile a list, and have only found about 10 so far.
I know this belongs in the HF forum, but got only one response there. Thanks in advance.
