Help please regarding final round interviews

Hi there,

Last Friday I conducted a superday with an investment management firm, which thereafter I was one of three to be invited to a lunch with one of the MDs. This MD told me during our conversation that a candidate would be selected by Tuesday.

It is now Saturday, and I have yet to hear back. Initially, I figured I was not chosen. But shouldn't the firm at least reply back telling us we were not selected? Or is there a possibility I am an alternate? For example, what if the candidate that was offered a job rejects his or her offer?

One last advice: What should I do in the meantime? Should I reply back to that MD? Or just wait it out?

Thanks again!

I would reply back simply stating that you were curious what your current status was for the position. It is always good to take the initiative. Worst case you didnt get it and you get closure. Best case he was still considering you and by taking the initiative you showed that you really wanted it....

you should probably give them a call (over sending an email) to follow-up. i don't know if you sent a thank you note or not, but if you get a chance on the call work in that you appreciated their time at the interview/lunch -- i've found these small gestures (or lack of them) don't make or break many candidates but they can reaffirm an applicant's standing. good luck and would be interested in hearing how things turn out.

Thanks for the help!

I found out that one of the candidates (out of 3 of us) was selected. This person also happens to be from my school. However, I found out through a friend that this person has decided to take another offer, leaving this offer possibly on the table for either me or the other candidate.

Should I still go ahead and call? Or would an email be fine? Should I wait it out?

Thanks again!
