How to capitalise on having a brother in the industry?

Hey guys,

I have a sibling who's a director at bulge bracket in S&T and I was wondering how I can leverage this to get a SA stint.

I have already shadowed her for a few weeks and in other areas of the bank, however I get the feeling that if anyone else was privileged enough to have a close relative in a BB they would be better at exploiting it than I am.

She joined the firm around 2004 and so her expertise in applications have been long forgotten but she has helped me by proof reading my apps. Other than that, she finds it difficult to find time to explain to me her industry in-depth.

A lot of firms ask if I have a contact in firm XYZ and I do, however, I was wondering what this will change for my application. I am also lucky to have a lot friends and other relatives in the industry but don't see how it can benefit me any more than this.

I have above average grades and have a 3 past stints at global banks( 2 through applying and 1 through contacts) although I wasn't given official responsibilities considering how young I was (16-18yrs). So I find it challenging to communicate my experience other than the fact that I gained a lot of exposure to the industry. I was also wondering If they would ever question how I got to shadow a director at the BB in an interview, considering it was done in an unusual time (early september) and whether I should tell them that its my sibling.

Can you guys please suggest to me what i can possibly do to improve my chances at achieving an SA stint in S&T..

Red, see if you can have her bring you in to shadow sometime or see if she can put you in the right direction to shadow with her friends at other banks. That was one of the more valuable experiences I ever had.

I hate you.

Unless you're a troll, in that case I'm had.
