How To Create A Black-Box Trading Simulator?
Are there any good books / software programs where I can learn how to create my own black-box trading simulator?
I work at a brokerage firm so I am prohibited from trading any real money unless I trade with my employer, who charge an arm and a leg per trade.
This is just a thought, but in the old days you could use a discount broker as long as you had prior approval (when you open the account) and duplicate confirmations were sent to compliance. Might be worth checking with your firm.
They told me that everything has to be with them - no exceptions except for 401K accounts and mutual funds.
This is a good high level guide to building one (logistically): http://www.amazon.com/Building-Automated-Trading-Systems-Introduction/d…
For more quantitative strategic insight you'll probably have to turn to other sources... maybe quant forums and the few books that publish worthwhile info.
