How to deal with douche bags? Seriously what helps you guys

Hey Guys,

So I am new to the board but I have been reading WSO for the past three years. I know finance is cutthroat but how do you guys deal with those utter douches (either in work or school) who just want to screw people over and have a god complex. I have always been an advocate of modesty and helping others as I believe we need to help others to keep moving forward. I don't mean to sound that I am making a big deal out of this, but I am just curious how you guys deal with these assholes. Do you fight fire with fire? or just ignore it? Also is it that a more aggressive attitude will guarantee you success (type A personality). I see so much talent looked over because an asshole get the job over the hard working modest individual. Just something for thought.

yeah i get that whatwhatwhat....i just wanted to hear some stories about time fellow monkey's encountered this and what they did. I am not in the above situation but I am curious to see the stories of other wso users. In fact, I am pre med student going into medicine but my peers tell me how its a dog eat dog world out there. I have always been curious of the financial world and wanted to get a grasp (more insight) from this cutthroat culture that i hear about all the time...idk why it wrong that i am curious about this

Just avoid them. If avoidance isn't possible then try and deal with them rationally. If they are your superior and they don't want to hear what you're saying then suck it up. If they're your peer and they continue to be a dick, you need to work on your negotiation skills. If they're your subordinate, you need to work on your leadership.
