Hypothetical Scenario: MM IBD offer or Top tier masters admission?
Just a hypothetical scenario here, which would you choose out of:
1) Offer to work M&A at a mid level MM bank - probably somewhere inbetween HLHZ and Raymond James or 2) Top tier MSc Financial Computing at UCL who partner with Goldman, CS, Morgan Stanley etc?
two different paths...if you want to work in ibd go for 1..if you are more inclined towards the technology side go for 2..its a good progamme
Well, I want to work in IBD but I feel the UCL program could put me in with a better firm. I did a quick linkedin and a lot of grads from the program are working at top firms as analysts.
Do IBD if you want IBD. If you want something why not do it now rather than waiting and possibly being in the same boat later on.
Do the IBD, UCL is not even one of the top MSc Fin programs, and even kids at the top programs aren't necessarily guaranteed a job. Also, "partner with" is a ridiculous statement and shows you really need to get a better idea what you're looking at.
The MM bank is the better option.
the "financial computing" is not applicable to IBD where you do more accounting/corporate finance stuff. msc would help you get into better firm if it had prestige but it's no oxbridge/LSE. even warwick does better
