Wells Fargo IBD SA vs Macquarie SA

Wells Fargo is a platform offer to any location (SF, NYC, Charlotte) and group (including financing groups like ABF, and traditional coverage groups). Macquarie is for their NYC office. I do want to go to NYC, but I also want to be a bank that has a great reputation and is growing.

Controversial

If you want New York, take Macquarie without question. The majority of Well's IBD headcount is in Charlotte by a wide margin, and statistically that's where you'll end up getting placed. You can read my post here about how shitty the group/location placement process is at Wells.

Also if you're interested in infrastructure, Macquarie is a no brainer. Macquarie has one of the top infrastructure groups on the street whereas I don't think Wells even has a dedicated infra group.
