Wells Fargo IBD SA vs Macquarie SA
Wells Fargo is a platform offer to any location (SF, NYC, Charlotte) and group (including financing groups like ABF, and traditional coverage groups). Macquarie is for their NYC office.
I do want to go to NYC, but I also want to be a bank that has a great reputation and is growing.
Macquarie is also for the IBD, I am most interested in Infrastructure.
Go Macquarie given your interest in infra. Too big of a risk getting burned at Wells.
Just because it is a platform offer for Wells Fargo, it doesn't mean that you'll get the location or group you want.
I know that is what scares me. I am afraid of being placed in Charlotte.
Wells mainly because it is in a huge growth and upcoming stage
Macquarie is definitely the way to go because a lot of people get screwed by the platform offer. Wouldn't consider wells unless you can get an on paper group specific offer.
If you want New York, take Macquarie without question. The majority of Well's IBD headcount is in Charlotte by a wide margin, and statistically that's where you'll end up getting placed. You can read my post here about how shitty the group/location placement process is at Wells.
Also if you're interested in infrastructure, Macquarie is a no brainer. Macquarie has one of the top infrastructure groups on the street whereas I don't think Wells even has a dedicated infra group.
There's my guy!
There's nothing wrong with Macquarie!?!?
Don't know about Wells but return offer rates at Macquarie are low. Plus infra isn't expecting a good year
IB internship: Macquarie Capital vs. Wells Fargo? (Originally Posted: 02/28/2011)
Which internship holds more weight on the Street for full-time opportunities? (I'm most interested in media/entertainment: TMT at Wells, TMET at Macquarie) for Wells: NYC preferred over Charlotte, SFran.
Wells Fargo, Macquarie is going belly up
Macquarie is going belly up? Where do you get this from?
hansolo has been known to flame Macquarie, so I don't think they're going belly up; they're actually expanding and doing pretty well in the US.
That said, WF>Macquarie.
What do people think in terms of comp and exit for full time?
more exits precedent for wells from what i've seen. also interns get paid a lot at wells.
how about for full time?
