Interesting article on Financial Advisers?
Just across this article:

Found it especially interesting that less then 5% of current FA's are under 30. I know it may not be as glorious and definitely not as high paying as other positions but curious what you monkeys think of the article.
Although I am currently not even in the finance industry (career changer), I've always associated advisers more along the lines of salesmen rather then financial professionals, again, I am sure I am way off here.
On a side note: Author looks pretty banging (then again I have a thing for Persians)

i'm not really surprised that
i'm not really surprised that a lot of younger people are financial advisors. The job is very oriented towards older clients(going into retirement soon), so they would better relate to older advisors. If you think about it, does a 25 year old need a financial advisor? Most 25 year olds barely make enough to support themselves let alone plan financially for the future.

It's a tough business for the first 3-5 years. Roughly 85% who start, don't make it because they are either afraid to use the phone or they don't have the patience to work their ass off for the first few years. Most of the wirehouse firms expect results right away or they fire you once you miss hurdles in their training program. However for those who can stick it out... sky is the limit.

I'm not quick to dismiss FAs
I'm not quick to dismiss FAs as an occupation for old people.
HNWs are of all ages (yes, even 25), and while technology allows many to actively handle their wealth, a FA can be indispensable with the right combination of knowledge -- markets, taxes, diversification, etc. Especially when the client is busy making their own money, not sitting on boat in Florida entertaining grandkids.
