Internship - Consulting/IB or Tech Company
I've been admitted to a top Ivy League (undergrad) as a prospective CS major and it's getting to the point where I am starting to consider which places to gain an early exposure to (e.g. summer internships) would be most beneficial to me. I am interested in working at a tech firm or VC firm at some point down the line, but whether it be in a lead role at an established firm or a startup of my own I am still unsure. My question essentially is: Would I benefit more from an internship at an MBB or BB bank or should I try to secure an internship for a top tech firm like Google/MSFT/Apple/Facebook? Would I benefit more from one than the other in both securing a full time position post-graduation or even from a career development perspective? In the long run, I don't think I want to remain solely as a software developer and I see myself as being more interested in the strategy involved (although, I would of course still love to be knowledgeable of the inner workings). I understand it may be very early, perhaps too early, to think about such things, but from students I spoke to there, the only hope of getting a valuable internship or summer job is to hit the ground running.
I appreciate any advice you guys may have.
