Introduction and brief question

Hey guys,

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the posts I've read and learned from. I discovered this website a few months ago and have been benefiting from it since. But now I'm at a crossroads and need some expertise/advice.

A little bit about me...

Major: Financial Economics (Expected Grad Dec 2013)
GPA: 3.8/4.0
School: BYU-I (non-target)
Relevant Experience: This semester I joined the Investment Society as a Junior Analyst working with a group of students in charge of a portion of the Endowment Fund.

Career Goals: I would love to get a Corp Finance Internship and eventually work in Corp Finance.

Question: I'm trying to figure out what to do about my Minor. My options are Accounting, Finance, or None.

* Accounting: Would be 18 credits of intermediate to advanced accounting courses but its boring.
* Finance: Would get to do the IBC (integrated business core) where we start a company on-campus and run it for the semester (they give us start up money from previous semesters profits). Could look good on a resume
* And No minor would mean I would get to finish 1-2 semesters early.

I would prefer to do no minor, but would that make it harder for me to get a finance Internship?

Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Unlike most of these kinds of questions, I think those are all pretty valid and thoughtful options. The return on having a Minor may be negligible for you since you seem to have a pretty good profile. Landing an internship shouldn't be impossible for those that dont have 3 degrees and a 4.0, provided they show some outside interest in what they are aiming for. That and you could use your extra time to network.

Since you say you want to try Corp Finance then I definitely vote for Accounting if you think its worth it. A good friend went double major in Accounting/Finance and works at a global corp. and has already lived in like 7 different countries already. good luck mayne.
