Is getting finance experience in your first year good?

what I mean by this is that is it something that is not very common and therefore will help you in your second year when you apply for formal summer internships

I am a first year 'fresher' undergraduate in the UK and have got investment compliance work experience/internship in London for most of the summer at one of the largest AM firms in the UK

While compliance isnt where I see my self in the future, I was very happy to have gained it as none of my other peers have something lined up for this summer and I was hoping it will put me at a big advantage

do you guys have any opinion on this?

It will definitely give you an advantage, but make sure to focus a lot on ECs and being a well rounded student as well.

You need to develop your personality as well. And next summer, make sure you get an internship in IBD or whatever it is you want to do. And also make sure to refer me to your company if I haven't found anything by then.

Don't compare yourself to your uni friends or class mates. Most kids in English unis don't give a crap about internships etc. They're too immature and it's the first time they're allowed to party and drink. Only a handful of students will be thinking about their career. Just because most people will go to Newquay on summer break doesn't mean you should. Instead, you can gain experience. Don't feel bad about it.

All the kids in my undergrad class that didn't do summer internships etc are now FT "talent recruiters" or recruitment consultants or whatever the fuck it's called for the financial industry. LOL!

But still, remember to enjoy the uni experience as well, just keep your priorities straight.

What was the question again?
