Is it OK to go past HR to VP?
I've interviewed several times for a job, and I've been continually blocked almost by HR. I've emailed twice in two weeks and both times, I've been informed they will let me know.
I have no reason to doubt them but I have another offer on the table but I want this job more. I've told them that but nothing.
One of my interviews was with a VP. I feel I made a very good impression (hence the 4 interviews) and he responded nicely to my thank you email. I was wondering whether it would be cool for me to go past the HR team and contact the VP directly to find out where I lie in the recruiting process? I'm not sure whether this will go beyond protocol or whether I might prove to be annoying.
Any thoughts guys?
Thanks!
Is your offer an exploding one? If it is, then email HR again and let them know the urgency of the situation.
If you have told them numerous times that you have another offer and they are not accommodating nor are they giving you more information, then more likely than not, you're not their #1 candidate (I could be wrong though).
If they again give you the shaft, go ahead and let the VP know if you feel comfortable doing so. Let him know the situation, and I'm sure he will understand.
I've told them twice now. Its not an exploding offer, but I anticipate I have to make a decision soon.
I just wanted to make sure its not unusual or inappropriate to contact the VP after I've emailed the HR people already.
chill pill brah
This is like your third thread on this and people keep giving you the same answers. Contact the VP and tell him they are your number one but you have another offer. If they don't bite, they don't want you.
Thanks. I know I've posted before but I wanted to be absolutely sure I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by reaching out to the VP.
I'd agree with idragmazda. You many want to face up to the fact that you're not their first choice. I would contact the VP to confirm however.
I contacted the VP, explaining how I felt the interviews went, how well I thought I did (obv with being requested back several times) and why I would be a good fit. I also explicitly noted that GS is my first choice but that I have other offers on the table.
The VP got back to me - "we're in our final stages and will be in touch shortly"
I dont feel great about that. Anyone with any thoughts? Shall I consider that I'm probably not getting this gig or am I overreacting?
Anyone thoughts?
Just wait and see now. There's nothing more you can do.
Still havent heard. Sorry for being so antsy, but I really need this job so thanks for the monkey shit. I'm sure you werent in my position at one time. I wont contact them again and just hope for the best, it appears however I dont think I'm getting this job. I have until the end of the week to confirm my acceptance for my other offer. I think at this point I might just take it.
Its likely you're their 2nd choice. 1st choice people are given usually 2-3 weeks to decide, maybe after that if they decline will they reach out. A little uncool to not contact you but thats the way they are.
If your offer isnt exploding, when do you have to make a decision?
