Is MBA a good idea for me?

Hi guys,

Looked around but didn't find similar situations.

Background:
- Went to NYU stern for undergrad
- Currently in IBD at a small bank, M&A role
- Strong gmat score, 3.5 GPA, no strong volunteering currently
- Trying to break into PE, seen ~10 different shops, no offers

I am thinking perhaps I should jump into an MBA to get access to networking and recruiting. Time is not on my side because my GMAT is going to expire in a couple of years. The only thing holding me back is I already am a finance undergrad major.

Hoping to get your opinions-- is an MBA right for me or is it just a waste since I won't get much "education" given my background and would just be paying $150k + 2 years of life to get some recruiting opportunities?

My original plan was to start applying now to the top schools, because if i can get in, it'll be a good experience and networking opportunity. In my mind going back to stern MBA or michigan MBA or something wouldn't be worthwhile. So if I don't get into H/W/C or something, I'll stick it out in the "real world"

Sound about right?
