Is this technically considered reneging?

Let's be clear -- I don't want to lose my offer. I start FT IBD this summer. In the meantime, I need to work because I graduated and really need cash.

If I interview and get another offer for a temporary position (~6 months) as a FT banking Analyst, to hold me over until this summer.......... would this be grounds for rescinding my first offer if the bank finds out? Is this technically reneging? Background check has already been completed for my "primary" role.

I know this is weird, please let me know what you think.

I don't think there's really a reneging element to it but I'd ask the primary job if it's kosher. I'm also not quite sure the reality of suddenly landing another entry level IB analyst role (or even non IB analyst role) that would start quickly enough to make much of a financial difference to you and I'm not quite sure if you're saying the interim gig would truly be temporary (are you looking at a 6 month contract, and if so I think it's weird a bank would want to fill that with someone without any ft experience anyway because you're not going to be able to hit the ground running) because if you somehow so quickly get an FT 3 year role absolutely planning to quit in 6 months, I'd look at that as pretty shitty. But in any case if somehow you'd be working in the same role with a similar firm to that you've already accepted, you should ask just so you don't fuck an FT IB job up over a few thousand dollars (or a few ten thousand).

But like I said, and forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't know the viability of getting that type of job. And anyway I'd see if you can get a less intense job just to pay the bills. It's most likely not a resume builder and you're gonna be socked with work like you can't really conceptualize when you start FT (sure, summer interns are tough but they end in 10 weeks and you get to go back to school-Analyst programs don't really let you see the light at the end of the tunnel for a while) so get a contract job if you can, temp, tend bar or wait tables (I lean that way because I did that out of school and was in a similar position where my job started 8 months out and it was actually fun but I did it in school also so It was easy to get a job at a cool bar and I actually made as much as my first year professional job).

If you're not stuck in a lease, get that type of job in a cool location and crash on people's couches/sublet a cheap place for a few months. Go to the beach, mountains, another city you've always wanted to check out and bum around and have fun. I know money's always a worry but I was shit broke out of school and easily did it. But that's another discussion.
