Junior, No Summer Internship offer yet, need help...

Hi all,

This is my first post on WSO. I have been a lurker for a long time, and only set up an account a few weeks ago. I am writing for help on my current situation, which I think is a bit unique....

I am a junior at a semi-target (target for select F500 and Big4) business school. I am a Finance major with a 3.90 GPA, a research position, and a great student office job within the business school. I had a finance internship last summer at one of the nation's 10 biggest Utilities District (I know, kinda weird). I have been invited to many interviews for a variety of positions at a variety of brand-name firms/companies: corporate finance, Strategy, boutique investing, Consulting, Project mgmt etc. However, I have not received any offers yet... I have been to 3 mock interviews at the career center and employer-led mock interviews, and the feedback I got every time was how great the interview was (no kidding), so I don't think my interview skills are the problem.

However, after receiving feedback from a couple of the interviews, the reason I haven't been chosen to move on is the fact that I am technically a sophomore, but considered a junior because of the advanced college credits I accrued in high school. As such, I am currently taking the first intro finance course, whereas my competitors have "successfully completed 5-6 advanced finance courses" (as one interviewer kindly put it). Is that really a reason to reject me, and if so, what are my options? I could probably do study abroad over the summer, but how would that affect my FT prospects the next year when I am a senior?

I know it's early February and I still have March, but at this point all the rejections I've gotten has really worn me down...I am feeling really discouraged and need advice on what to do/how to move forward...

Thanks in advance,
yarn

Just keep going and apply to everything u see. If u had some positive feedback from ur mock interviews and u r just getting rejected from job interviews for college credit reasons, theres no reason to feel down.

From experience I can advise u to apply to everything u see. Something is going to come up.

Keep ur head up!!
