Notable Emerging Market Hedge Funds
Hey guys,
I'm just wondering if any of you know off the top of your heads any exceptional EM Hedge Funds. Doesn't have to be the most famous or even have a lot of employees, just one that is respected within the industry. Google isn't really doing it justice here on this one...
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.
gramercy
Everest Capital

Ping Capital has been doing really well, though I'm not sure if I'd want to work there. A quick google or dealbreaker search will tell you all you need to know.
Gramercy are excellent, predominantly on the distressed debt side. Patricularly Richard Koeninsberger who pretty much ran the Argentine restructuring.
Other good shops include Prince Street, previously Sloane Robinson were good but have had a tough couple of years.
On the whole I would say that Asia / Lat Am / EEUR funds specialist Funds are better than the GEM funds.
List of Emerging Markets Strategy Funds? (Originally Posted: 06/26/2011)
I am a undergrad completing an internship at an FoF abroad in Europe, I intend to apply at various emerging markets strategy based funds. Is there an easy way to narrow my search based on fund strategy?
no
check barron's hf list.
Thank You....another question, I am aware that in terms of day-day functions a FoF researches industries as well as fund managers that operate within those industries and a hedge fund does research primarily on potential investments, however would I meet some if not all of the prerequisite's necessary to land an entry level position at a hedge fund?

Frontier/Emerging Markets Funds? (Originally Posted: 04/21/2011)
Anyone know hedge funds, any size, that focus on or invest in frontier markets? I'm particularly interested in the next set of emerging economies (i.e. non-BRIC) such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Turkey, Nigeria, etc.
My main areas of interest are Indian Ocean rim (Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh), but market caps are so small in these countries that any funds focusing in frontier markets probably invest all over the world.
Anything important I should know if I'm interested in working for these kind of funds? Specific skills required, career entry-points, whether language skills are important, etc.
