Manhattan GMAT In-Person Full Course v. Veritas Prep In-Person Full Course - Which is better?
Hi Friends,
I am currently a university senior and based on the advice from fellow WSO users, alumni and previous co-workers I am trying to get a head start in prepping for the GMAT before I start the Full-Time working grind. Considering I am taking only 2 classes next semester I'll have a good amount of free time that time commitment to these prep courses shouldn't be an issue.
Since I tend to learn better when material is taught to me I went ahead and decided to pursue a in person course in the city I go to school in. With that I have constantly read that Veritas and Manhattan are the best in the business and luckily both courses teach in the city I am in. There's only a $50 dollar difference between the two courses which isn't much so price isn't an issue either. With that I was wondering if you all could help me pick a course based on overall satisfaction and results whether you have had friends/acquaintances that went through these programs or been through them yourselves. Any feedback, suggestions, guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Curious to know as well. Kind of leaning towards Manhattan but not sure. Any thoughts on the comparison/what to choose?

They are both great courses with stellar reputations. There are several key differences that might help you decide.
Veritas comes with a score guarantee that lets you take another veritas course of equal or lesser value. MGMAT has no score guarantee. Veritas provides you with 12 full length CATs while MGMAT gives you 6. For both companies, the instructors are all 99th percentile scorers, however MGMAT requires their instructors to have two years teaching experience.
Take a practice test and see where you are at first. Maybe a class is not needed or maybe you need intimate instruction.
I took Princeton review classes (they are shit) and ended up using Manhattan books which I thought were amazing. The Manhattan stuff is pretty tough and helped me break through to the 700s. One word of caution is that your class can only really go as high as the worst student. In my case we never really were able to focus on higher level problems due to the overall class ability and I had to study that on my own.

I took Manhattan GMAT in person course, and found it awesome and well worth the money. I was at around 650 range when I took first practice test and got 750 on the real thing (I did very well on SAT's though, so I think 650 starting point was more rust than anything).
Save yourself the money and just do Magoosh, for 99 bucks it's cheap as hell and works.
I did the Manhattan GMAT in-person course a year ago. Great experience overall. The instructor was very engaging, and the three hours of class each week were actually pretty enjoyable. That being said, the classroom period really amounted to a brief lecture and then the group working problems followed by the instructor showing best practices. Useful, but not critical in my opinion to your prep. The reason I recommend taking the course though is the curriculum is exceptional. I don't think there is any argument that MGMAT books aren't the best content material, and with the curriculum provided and the structure that brings you are really set up for success in my opinion.
Ultimately though, your success will depend on your dedication to doing daily prep and the "homework" required each week. Very smart of you to do this now though while in school with a light schedule, as the age-old saying goes, life never slows down!
