Meeting Coworkers at Your Bank
Here's the scenario:
I am doing Middle Office Ops. this summer for a top BB (GS/MS) but I am obviously more interested in getting a FT offer for Front Office.
I have already met some of the traders that I support and they are very cordial and inviting. However, I definitely want to meet some bankers.
What is the best possible way for going about this? Should I go to the floor after the more senior people have left (9pm or later). I would like to talk with some analysts/associates and offer my help to them in any way.
I feel that I am very qualified (resume) and would like to increase my chances as much as possible. I also want to make sure that I am very appropriate with the process and do not offend anyone.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

so my friend was working in London one summer and would just look up names of analysts working in other groups. this way, she'd just write to these people [asking about informational interviews, but] really just to get to know the business. at the end of the day, you can make some good friends just by randomly writing and being genuinely interested in who they are.

I would advise against emailing people you don't know within the firm. These people have little time for themselves, never mind someone they have never met. Get to know people informally, once you have made some friends amongst the full timers ask them to introduce you to a banker they work closely with or a banker they know. Then when you do meet that person you have a little more weight behind you because you would have been referred to them.
