Modeling Test for SA Interview
Was interviewing for a top REPE group and the guy joked about having a modeling test at the end of the interview.
I've got a few interviews coming up at places known to be very technical with their interviews (HLHZ restr., BX RR etc). Curious to see if there is even the remote possibility of coming across a three-statement modeling test.
I've had a modeling test with one of those firms- PM me
Hi,
Could i ask you to send me the modelling test? It would be really helpful, I have an excel test coming soon for a real estate private equity and I don't now what to expect. Thank you!
holy sht.
Modeling Test for Summer Analyst Position (Originally Posted: 02/20/2015)
During a second round interview w/ a BB, I was told that I would have a modeling test next week following an interview. The banker gave no indication whether it would just be a three statment model or a full on DCF/LBO/Merger. In all honesty, I have had very little modeling experience in school. I am not sure what to expect or how to prepare.
I would appreciate any advice or references. ASAP.
?
Bump. ASAP
Never heard of a modeling test for SA at BBs. Is this for a specific group?
Nevertheless, I did have a friend that went through a modeling test for a lateral position at a top MM (think HLHZ, Harris Williams) and it mostly focused on the operating model + working cap / depreciation schedule. No accretion/dilution or lbo models. Hope this helps for what it's worth.
Houlihan Lokey is very different from a BB lol. Thanks for clearing this up a bit.
I mean SAs can't really be expected to know this. They have no experience or resources yet unless they sign up for online training... I would even go as far to say that its a bit uncommon for new analysts as well...
I honestly have no idea... Haven't really heard of modeling tests at BB's... Or at least it being common at all. I'd like to hear peoples thoughts too. I didn't think they actually gave modeling exams.
Never heard of modeling tests for SA positions... doesn't really make sense to test that at such an early stage since almost no one will have had that experience in school. Even still, I would be very surprised if it's a 3 statement/LBO/merger model test. They will probably give you a template and ask you to do a few simple financial analysis-related calculations. Maybe link up a DCF or something to see if you understand the fundamental mechanics.
So OP, how was the test? @"CPAExtraordinaire"
The test ended up being a very simple plug and play three statement model, but had a very short time limit which screwed me. No worries, I got the offer anyway.
Thanks
